I have drilled 4 inches through alabaster and used the bit to make wooden wheels for a toy car. This bit cuts a lot better than high speed steel hole cutters that I have used in the past. I have had a little trouble with the bit getting loose from the separately purchased arbor as I back out the tool to clear chips. If I need another hole size, I will buy this brand again.

Gabrial Gabrial about 4-3/8" Carbide Grit Hole Saw Cutter Verified Purchase

I purchased this after ruining a cheaper one. I used this to install a dozen recessed lights in plaster ceilings. do not use to cut the wood lathe but it will cut through the old plaster without dulling. Still works well after many uses.
Blue Boar worked great for making holes to install 6" LED recessed lighting in a plaster ceiling. Made installation easy. Lights fit inside the holes like a glove. Remember, this boar is built for cutting into plaster and sheetrock. If you need a boar for wood, look for the other type of boar specifically made for cutting into wood materials.
Great product! Can't say enough about the company. Excellent customer service and helpful staff. It's really nice to be able to cut a perfect hole in drywall above your head without getting a speck of dust in your eye! I would highly recommend this to anyone.
The cutting through many inches of wood was quick and with little difficulty. a really good tool. used a lot but stii as sharp as day I got it.

Drilled out 50, 3" holes below roof rafters for soffit ventilation on my home, face board was 2" plus thick, Blue Boar easily
cut through the face board with no effort on my part, it seem to drive through the board on its own, I was on a ladder on the second floor, so could not exert any pressure at all.

Works well with an 18v DeWalt 3-speed drill that has enough torque for even 6 inch Mega hole cutters. I have drilled 2 1/2 inches through alabaster and ipe boards. This hole saw cuts a lot better than high speed steel hole cutters that I have used in the past.
Drills quickly and cleanly through wood and stays sharper than the hole saws with teeth. The tungsten carbide teeth outlast dozens of high speed steel or carbide edge hole saws and we can use cordless drills on jobs and no need for stud drills and a generator

These replaceable tungsten carbide blades make cutting holes in plaster super easy, plus I drilled 10 holes and was good to go. The blades were still sharp, but I was prepared, I had an extra set in the carry case when they need to be replaced.

Great product! We work with large size and thick-walled HDPE and PVC piping. The problem with using conventional bi-metal hole saws to make taps into the plastic pipes was it would melt the plastic and gum up the hole saw teeth and make it very difficult to remove the plastic cut-out coupon from the hole saw. You had to make the tap at a very, very low rpm to not create heat and melt the plastic which was time and money. The Blue Boar Plumbers hole saws have tungsten carbide chisel teeth which cut and remove the cuttings quickly and easily without creating heat and melting the plastic. We'll be ordering another two sets for our other crews.
Cuts perfectly round, clean holes for speaker installation.

Installed a full JL Audio system on a Mako 18LTS. 2x 6.5", 2x 10" subs & 2x wakeboard 7.7" cans. This tool made it so easy to install.
I bought this as a gift to my son who built a new home and had lots of holes to put into sheetrock. He has thanked me over and over for how great this is. Easy and extremely accurate, this saw will be well within1/10 of an inch of the desired diameter in drywall all day long. Great tool
Used this for installing recessed LEDs in a new Hardie Board (concrete composite) soffit. Use a slow speed, don't try to hurry it by applying too much pressure, it cuts quite well as it is. It helps to "rock" the blade slightly around the perimeter as you cut, and ease up when you feel it start to break through... and WEAR A MASK! This makes a lot of silica dust when cutting through concrete.

Or better yet, if you cut a lot of holes to cut buy the Hole Pro Shield kit to collect the dust. That's what I ended up doing.

Game changer. Very professional. As others have said, it hangs a bit when engaging into the drywall. Wipe down your shift before use and liberally use graphite on it before every session. Thanks to reviewer who said once you start, just keep on going. The few times I messed up was just from being apprehensive. With a good hole saw each 6 inch hole is about 5 seconds. Very little dust. Spring keeps the tray flush to ceiling. Do not walk the saw around at all. Just go straight in. Walking it will damage ceiling finish.

Love this thing. Won't be without it ever I hope. Until I get out of this trade and find something better to trade my time for!
No going back to the ole jigsaw..!!!
Great accuracy with well contained dust and dirt... perfect for the low profile LED's
Used to cut holes in our ceiling for new recessed lighting. It worked like a charm - super clean holes. It does get dusty though, wear a mask if you don't have a dust shield.
I got this to make a lot of holes in 1/8 metal sheets, I use to do this with dewalt hole cutters, and the always jam and the center bit offenly brokens, this one from blue boar is very different, the make cut in a very diferent way, they do the cut clean and smooth, never jams and the sharp seems to be ok after a 200+ holes. very nice product.
Great tool at a reasonable price. Works just as you would expect and better. Quality tool that should stand the test of time. Quality blow molded the case is well thought out and was a deciding factor in my purchase (a tool like this is worthless if you lose the pieces or spend more time looking for a piece than it takes to complete the job). Case has a place for everything including tools needed for adjustment, one set of blades for drywall and other abrasive materials and a second set of blades for non-abrasives (wood, plastic, rubber, etc..). As with any circle cutter I have used it is imperative to double check the cutting size and to make sure cutters are same distance from pilot/centering bit. MEASURE TWICE (or more) CUT ONCE!!! And you will be time ahead.
Very fast cutting hole saws and top performance with my 18 volt cordless drills. I no longer need my large angle drill or extension cords with these cutters.

Long life even with MDF and particle board materials like Advantech or plywood where bi-metal dull very quickly. I use them even
on Hardi board.

The arbor adapter seemed a little loose but then I realized that it did not affect performance of the hole cutters but made it a lot easier to remove them without needing a screw driver to pry them off.

Their brad point pilot bit has been handy for hard woods and plywood and does not dull quickly like the spade bits I was using before.

Carry case is top notch. Very strong and good latches so it does not open in the back of my truck. Survived a 4 foot fall onto concrete with no damage.
Used this to install soffit vents cutting 96 holes in 2x lumber, even cut thru a few nails in the process and it is still brand new sharp. Most of the slugs just fall out.
